April 11th-15th: Sarah Sexton

Hours Worked: 2 Total Hours: 44

Instead of the typical Materials Lab post, let's discuss the importance of getting out of the classroom and into the world. This week, the third-year interior students went on a workplace-focused trip to Columbus, Ohio. We got the opportunity to develop communication skills, network with professionals in the field, explore a site (office), and gather information relevant to our studies.

While there, I made sure to talk to local representatives about trends in materials and their applications in different environments. Over the next week, I will be reaching out to solidify connections and hopefully get new samples for the Materials Lab. The college tries to give us these insightful and meaningful experiences to have the resources to succeed in the field. Being able to share these experiences is another aspect of understanding materials.
